Steps in wood processing

The process of wood processing usually includes the following steps:

Raw material collection and processing: One step of wood processing is to harvest logs from the forest. The logs are prepared into suitable sizes and shapes through felling, pruning and peeling. This step requires the use of various tools and equipment, such as electric saws, log turners, etc.

Log pretreatment: After the logs are harvested, a series of pretreatment processes will be carried out. First, the logs need to be classified and sorted, and piled according to the variety, quality and purpose of the wood. Then the antiseptic treatment is carried out to protect the wood from fungi and insects. Finally, the logs are dried to reduce the moisture content of the wood and improve the stability and service life of the wood.

Cutting and shearing: After the pretreated logs, they will be sent to the wood processing plant for cutting and shearing processes. According to different uses and requirements, the wood can be cut into different sizes and shapes, such as boards, beams, square columns, etc. This step is usually carried out using equipment such as wood cutters and wood shearing machines.

Processing and finishing: The subsequent process is to process and finish the wood as needed. For example, wood can be surfaced, trimmed, carved, spliced, etc. to increase the beauty and decorativeness of the wood. This step requires the use of various woodworking tools and equipment, such as wood milling machines, wood engraving machines, etc.

Surface treatment and coating: After processing and modification, the wood needs to be surface treated and coated to increase the water resistance, durability and beauty of the wood. Common wood surface treatment methods include sanding, grinding, varnishing or coating. This step requires considering the use environment and purpose of the wood and choosing appropriate treatment methods and coatings.

Final finishing and packaging: After processing and coating, the wood needs to be finalized and packaged. After processing and coating, the wood will be quality checked to exclude defective or inferior wood. Then, the wood will be packaged for transportation and sale. Packaging usually uses materials such as wooden boxes, pallets or plastic films.

Wood processing is not only of great significance to economic development and environmental protection, but also has a certain impact on traditional culture and art. Traditional wooden buildings, wooden furniture and handicrafts are all important applications of wood processing technology. At the same time, wood processing is also a traditional handicraft technology, representing the wisdom and creativity of human beings in processing and utilizing natural materials.
